A day after the IDF detained the crew and passengers of a boat sailing from Cyprus to the Gaza Strip, US State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said that US authorities were in touch with Israeli officials about the US citizens, including former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, taken into custody after their ship attempted to break the Israeli blockade of the Strip.
Kelly confirmed that all the passengers were safe and accounted for, adding that US President Barack Obama's administration takes no position on the agenda of the Free Gaza movement.
