A program bringing 75 North American college graduates to volunteer in Israel for 10 months teaching English in underprivileged communities was launched on Monday by Masa and the Education Ministry.
The new “Israel Teaching Fellows” initiative seeks to address the widespread underperformance of youth in low-income communities while offering a unique Israel experience to participants.
"With the new Israel Teaching Fellows project, we benefit doubly: We both strengthen the bond between Diaspora youth and Israel, and strengthen the teaching of the English language in the Israeli periphery,” said Natan Sharansky, the chairman of Jewish Agency which Masa is part of.
