Warning strike to affect all hospitals except Barzilai

Talks between the Israel Medical Association and the Treasury made no progress on Tuesday despite some IMA optimism, thus a warning strike will be held on Wednesday, but negotiations will continue.
All public hospitals in the country except for Ashkelon's Barzilai Medical Center in the missile-stricken south -- which will operate normally -- will have no elective surgery on Wednesday. Only lifesaving operations and those approved by a doctors’ committee will be performed. In addition, the IMA decided to allow all treatments and operations for cancer patients as a show of good will. Everything else will function according to a reduced Shabbat schedule.
Meanwhile, Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv reported an incident of violence against medical staffers on Monday night. An emergency room nurse and a person who accompanied a patient who defended her were hurt by the attacker, who was taken away by security personnel and arrested by the Israel Police.
