Yacimovich: Netanyahu remains indifferent to poverty

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu remains indifferent to the magnitude of the issue of poverty in Israel, Labor leader Shelly Yacimovich said on Monday in response to a recent Poverty Report.

Yacimovich said that the issue of poverty "derives of a systematic economic policy that dissolves the social fabric of Israeli society, crushes the middle class and sends the poor down a dark slope of child labor, much like third world countries."

The report indicates the sharp raise in food and housing costs that occurred during Netanyahu's government are among the main causes that perpetuate poverty, Yacimovich added.
