Yishai: Committee probes 'castrate decision-making process'

Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Thursday preemptively struck out against a soon- to be-released State Comptroller report on the Carmel Fire, saying "it's a great shame that in Israel decisions are made after a traumatic event, and not beforehand."
The Israel media has widely reported that State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss will call for the removal of Yishai from his position for his part in the tragedy in which 44 people were killed.
Yishai was quoted by Army Radio as saying that the government now speaks in 'Winograd' language, referencing the committee who wrote a 2008 report slamming senior officials for their actions in the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new fire station near Beit Shemesh, Yishai said that the government's culture of committees and probes "castrates the decision-making process."
