AMMAN, Jordan — Hundreds of young Jordanians rallied outside the Egyptian Embassy to voice their support for anti-government protesters in Cairo.
The estimated 500 demonstrators — most of them university students — also accused the United States of backing autocratic regimes across the Mideast. The demonstrators chanted: "America is the sponsor of terrorism."
They rebuked Arab governments as US "puppets" and called on authorities Tuesday to close the US and Israeli embassies in Jordan.
Demanding that Arabs alone profit from their oil resources, the protesters waved portraits of the late Egyptian Arab nationalist President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
They also had a brief satellite call to praise their peers in Cairo's Tahrir Square, the focus of protests against President Hosni Mubarak.
