Scientific cooperation between Israel and South Korea is expanding to allow more cooperation among researchers, especially younger ones, the Science and Technology Ministry announced Monday. It is often difficult for less-experienced scientists to get research grants. Last week, an Israeli delegation returned from Seoul after having signed an agreement to expand cooperation between the two countries that began in 1994. It was the first time that younger scientists were included after five cycles of joint research using more experienced ones, the ministry said. It was also decided that two research projects of seven will continue and the others will focus on new subjects. Ministry chief scientist Prof. David Mendelevich suggested that this field will be semiconductors. Each research project will have a budget of $230,000.
