Gov't puts out car leasing tender

To prepare the tender, the ministry spent more than a year analyzing the costs and benefits of the current system.

Director-General Yaron Zelekha published a tender for operational leasing of cars to government ministries and related offices, effectively outsourcing the bulk of the vehicles held by the state for the first time in Israel's history, the Finance Ministry said Wednesday. The tender, which the ministry said would privatize the acquisition and maintenance of the cars did not include bullet-proof vehicles, motorcycles, buses and trucks. To prepare the tender, the ministry spent more than a year analyzing the costs and benefits of the current system.
