WASHINGTON - The Conference of President of Major Jewish Organizations appointed William Daroff as the next CEO, JNS first reported.
For the past 14 years, Daroff has served as senior vice president for public policy and director of the Washington office of the Jewish Federations of North America.
Born in Miami Beach, Florida, Daroff studied political science and history before working as a political operative in three presidential campaigns, including George H. W. Bush and Bob Dole.
He is said to replace Mr. Malcolm Hoenlein, who held that position for 33 years. Hoenlein announced his intention to step down last year.
Both Daroff and Hoenlein were not available for comment.
A source at the Conference told the Post that while the matter is being discussed, no decision has been finalized.
"It's not true yet. It is a process and is still under way. We do not expect a decision to be made before late August or September, and it will not take effect before 2020," the source said.
"Malcolm Hoenlein will remain Executive Vice Chairman and the person who will join will be CEO overseeing conference operations, and the two will work together, " the source added.

"Thank you Malcolm Hoenlein for your incredible leadership as CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations for the past 33 years," AIPAC wrote in a statement on Twitter. "Mazel Tov to new CEO [William Daroff] as you take on these new responsibilities and lead the community from strength to strength."
