The IDF began operational preparations to adjust deployment lines in the Gaza Strip following the announcement of parties agreeing to the ceasefire deal, the military confirmed on Thursday.

The ceasefire is set to go into effect at 12:00 p.m.

This comes after US President Donald Trump announced early on Thursday that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a ceasefire deal in Gaza.

Additionally, Arab media reports indicated that Hamas had begun collecting the remains of deceased hostages to return to Israel.

These preparations come ahead of the implementation of the deal, which is expected to be put into place over the weekend.

The IDF stated that despite beginning to adjust deployment lines, the military would remain "ready for any scenario."

"The IDF welcomes the reaching of an agreement for the return of the hostages, which was signed last night," the statement said. "During a situation assessment held last night, the Chief of Staff instructed all forces on all fronts to prepare strong defensive measures and be ready for any scenario."

At the same time, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered that preparations for the operation to return the hostages must be done with "sensitivity and professionalism."

Residents of southern Israel and communities near Gaza reported hearing powerful explosions caused by ongoing IDF strikes. The army confirmed that artillery fire was being directed toward targets in Gaza City ahead of the ceasefire.
