Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have instructed the IDF to destroy all bridges over the Litani River that are being used for terrorist activity, to prevent the movement of Hezbollah operatives and weapons southward, Katz announced on Sunday.
“In addition, we have ordered an acceleration in the destruction of Lebanese homes in contact-line villages to neutralize threats to Israeli communities, in accordance with the model of Beit Hanun and Rafah in Gaza,” Katz said.
He said the IDF is continuing ground operations in Lebanon to eliminate Hezbollah operatives and reach the anti-tank line and key strategic positions as quickly as possible.
IDF ensures safe evacuation of southern Lebanon residents
Katz added that the IDF will continue to allow residents of southern Lebanon to evacuate northward to the Litani River from the combat zone for their protection.
Additionally, last week, the IAF struck the Zarieh Bridge over the Litani River in Lebanon, the IDF announced, as part of its ongoing actions against the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
According to the IDF, Hezbollah used the bridge to cross from northern to southern Lebanon in order to prepare for combat.
They had also recently positioned rocket launchers near the bridge and had fired on Israel using them.
