The IDF took control of a key ridge in southern Lebanon on Thursday night, minutes before the ceasefire came into effect, with soldiers from an elite unit being parachuted into the position in order to maintain an operational presence in the area before the halt to the fight.
According to the IDF statement shared on Friday, the soldiers captured the “Christophani Ridge,” a key position in southern Lebanon.
"The operation, which was approved by the IDF Chief of the General Staff, was led by the Commander of the Israeli Air Force and the Commander of the Northern Command," the military said.
The IDF added that it "remains on high alert and will continue to remove threats in southern Lebanon throughout the area between the border with Israel and the designated line, in accordance with the ceasefire understanding."
IDF soldiers kill terrorist in southern Gaza
In a later incident reported on Friday, IDF soldiers stationed in the southern Gaza Strip killed a terrorist who crossed the yellow line and posed an immediate threat to the forces.
"Immediately after identification, the forces eliminated the terrorist in order to eliminate the threat," the military said, adding that the soldiers involved were from the Negev Battalion.
No casualties were reported by the military after the incident.
