Liberman to Eizenkot: We are financing terror against ourselves

Yisrael Beitenu Chairman and former defense minister Avigdor Liberman said Wednesday that the government's Gaza policy has failed and, moreover, that Israel is financing terror against itself."The prime minister and the cabinet failed in their decision on Gaza," said Liberman in an interview on Army Radio. "I do not stick to a chair. I think I made the right decision," he said referring to his decision of resigning as defense minister in November 2018."We were hit by 500 rockets and accepted a cease-fire with Hamas on their terms," said Liberman."In the end, all we got were rockets and planes with explosives, friction at the border and daily calls to murder Jews," he said. "They increased funds to the military wing and we finance terrorism against ourselves."Liberman's comments came as a response to criticism lodged against him Tuesday by IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot, who blamed Liberman for the political turmoil in Israel during a visit to Gaza border communities on Tuesday, according to Ynet News."Hamas sees a great victory in the political process that is taking place in Israel," Eizenkot said. "We hope for a long ceasefire until the end of 2019."
