The suspect, an east Jerusalem resident who was in possession of the coins and stolen equipment, was arrested after failing to comply with police calls.

Israeli fighter jets escorted a Wizz Air flight from London after a reported security concern. The suspicion was later lifted, and the plane landed safely with no injuries or damage caused.

A drone smuggling 12 pistols from Jordan was intercepted overnight by IDF soldiers and Border Police officers on Sunday night, according to a joint statement.

Police also seized M16 magazines and a hydraulic switch used as a breaching tool, suspected to have been stolen from the Fire and Rescue Service. 

The killing on Tuesday night marks the third fatal shooting in less than 48 hours. Critics argue the crime wave has worsened since Itamar Ben-Gvir became National Security Minister in 2022.

The terrorist had "extensive knowledge in preparing explosives and various weapons," according to N12, and had been involved in other attacks against IDF soldiers operating in the area.

David Zini's father, Rabbi Yosef Zini, claimed that authorities' true target is not brother Bezalel, but the Shin Bet chief himself: "Most of the public understands this well."

Emergency services said the victim was found with critical gunshot wounds and was evacuated for hospitalization, where doctors pronounced him dead shortly afterward.

The collection, hidden in a flowerpot on the suspect's balcony, included coins from the Hasmonean, Herodian, and Roman periods, the IAA said.
