Jordan slammed Israel for trying to pass the controversial 'muezzin bill,' saying it could violate human rights such as Freedom of Religion as well as the peace treaty between the two countries.

Joint List leader Ayman Oden says the law is "an unnecessary evil promoted by the prime minister."

The bill is sponsored by Bayit Yehudi MK Moti Yogev and supported by many Jewish citizens who live near mosques.

Coalition sources said progress on the legislation was frozen.
