Rona Ramon established a relationship with current President Reuven Rivlin, whom she asked to give the address for the laying of the Beit Assaf cornerstone in memory of her son last September.
He also described Ramon’s request for cremation to spare her family more suffering as “characteristic of her nobility” but went on to say that there severe consequences in Jewish law for cremation.
"I would define the life of Rona Ramon as a tragedy in biblical terms, but also as a giant of the spirit in biblical terms."
The program is designed to make scientific studies accessible to high-school students, especially those living in the periphery and from low socio-economic groups.
