93 years pass since Balfour declaration issued

November 2 marks 93 years since the Balfour declaration was issued by the British government.

The letter, a formal statement of government policy signed by UK Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour, gave the crown's endorsement to the Zionist project establishing of "a national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine.

The letter further stated British "sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations." The declaration was later incorporated into the preamble of the British Mandate for Palestine.
