Ashdod mayor Yehiel Lasri told Israel Radio Sunday of latest escalation in southern Israel that his city was under attack "in a way it hasn't been before."
"The Iron Dome is doing a great job, but the danger of shrapnel exists," he said about the missile defense system that intercepts rockets fired by Palestinians in Gaza.
Residents of southern rural areas also told Israel Radio: "There never has been a ceasefire. On 'normal days' we were targeted with two Kassams and two shells a day."
