IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi is leaving Sunday afternoon for a three-day state visit to Germany at the invitation of his German counterpart, Gen. Wolfgang Schneiderhan, the IDF said in a statement. The visit will mark Ashkenazi's first visit to Germany in his capacity as chief of General Staff, and it comes after a visit by the German general to Israel several years ago. Ashkenazi will be received in Berlin by an honor guard. He will meet generals in the German army, officials in the German Defense Ministry and tour special operations units of the military.
