Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland visits Kotel

The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Wednesday as part of her diplomatic visit in Israel, the Western Wall Heritage Foundation said in a statement to the press.

Freeland reacted to Saturday's deadly shooting at the Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh, saying that the incident has a strong effect on Canada, both because of the phycical proximity and because of Canada's deep connection to its Jewish population.

"We are all obligated to banish the darkness that terrorist want to overcome the world, and to illuminate our world with good," Freeland said.

Freeland was accompanied to the Western Wall by Canadian Jewish leaders.
