Celebrations begin at President's Residence

Thursday’s Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations began at 9.30 at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, where President Reuven Rivlin will award the IDF annual citations for distinguished service to soldiers the army in front of their families and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, among other leaders.

A flyover of IAF planes will mark the beginning of the festivities. Flyovers nationwide are the signature event of the day for most Israelis, along with the traditional barbecue.
