A fire broke out at the Snir Stream nature reserve (Hatzbani) on Monday. After consuming about 100 dunams of the habitat, it was brought under control by firefighters, Nature and Parks Authority (NPA) and KKL rangers.

During the fire, all of the tourists visiting the site were evacuated. Due to the swift evacuation, no one was injured and no property damaged – aside from the reserve itself.

Initial assessments point to negligence on the part of a visitor as the cause of the blaze. The NPA asked the public to be more careful with fire especially during these hot and dry days.

The NPA hopes to reopen the reserve tomorrow.
