Firefighters battled against an apartment fire on the ninth floor of an apartment building on Jaffa Street near the entrance of Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon, that closed down Jaffa Street during rush hour and spewed heavy smoke into the air.

There were no injuries, though due to the fire's location on a high floor, firefighters were initially concerned about residents getting trapped on the upper floors.

Five crews and a crane responded to the blaze. Residents were able to return to their apartments immediately after firefighters had the fire under control around 6:00 p.m. Firefighters opened an investigation into the cause of the fire.
