Green groups to unite for elections

Ahead of the upcoming local authority elections, Israel’s environmental organizations will join together in an attempt to put green issues at the top of the public agenda when voters head to the ballot box later this month.
The Life and Environment organization, an umbrella group representing well over 100 environmental NGOs, said in a press release issued on Thursday that the campaign will bring together environmental activists in order to cover a wide range of issues, including air pollution, public transportation, recycling, and the like.
Life and Environment CEO Naor Yerushalmi said in the release that “in many towns environmental issues are just given lip service and we see these elections as an opportunity to change this.” The organization said that it plans to hold lectures, get out the vote drives, and field tours for activists and potential voters.
