A six month old dolphin washed up on a beach south of Haifa on Sunday afternoon.

Liran Ben Harush of animal rights NGO Anonymous reported finding a Mediterranean dolphin on the beach.

Nature and Parks Authority inspectors and volunteers from the Center for Research and Saving Sea Mammals were dispatched to try and save the dolphin.

However, the dolphin was too physically injured and perished during the rescue attempt.

The body will be autopsied on Monday to determine cause of death, the Environmental Protection Ministry said.
