Jerusalem District Police commander Asst.-Ch. Yossi Pariente announced Sunday that he was resigning from his post and would not submit his candidacy to replace Insp.-Gen. Yochanan Danino as chief of police.

Pariente said that he was resigning for a variety of personal reasons after a long police career.

Pariente's resignation comes just weeks after Central District commander Asst.- Ch. Bruno Stein announced his resignation on September 12.
