Jewish community head denies meeting Assad in Syria

Malcolm Hoenlein, executive head of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, on Monday denied a Channel 10 News report that he had visited Damascus at the invitation of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

According to the report, Hoenlein, who is thought to be close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, went to Syria with personal messages from the prime minister was personally invited to the presidential palace.
