Mother arrested for 'attempted euthanasia'

A 53-year-old woman from one of the Arab communities in northern Israelis suspected of trying to euthanize her 17-year-old son, police saidWednesday.
The youth, who suffers from muscular dystrophy and is hospitalized atHaifa’s Rambam Medical Center, told nurses there that his mother triedto strangle him. Police suspect that she acted out of pity for her son,but the woman has denied the allegations against her.
She was set to be brought before the Haifa Magistrate’s Court later Wednesday for a remand extension hearing.
