The National Jewish Democratic Council quickly congratulated Democratic US President Barack Obama on his projected successful re-election on Wednesday morning.

"On behalf of the National Jewish Democratic Council's leadership and staff, we are thrilled that President Barack Obama has won reelection and will serve as president of the United States for four more years," NJDC chair Marc Stanley and CEO David Harris said in a statement.

Noting his domestic achievements that they said reflect Jewish values, Obama has been "Israel's most important friend and most persistent advocate in the world. We know that he will continue to build on his outstanding foreign and domestic record in his second term, and that he will continue moving our country forward."
