Netanyahu at border: Flood of migrants needs to be stemmed

On the day that the cabinet approved construction of a new detention center for illegal migrants, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu flew south Sunday afternoon to look at work being done on a fence being built between Egypt and Israel, and to illustrate the scope of the problem.
The prime minister said that the large number of migrants is a "danger" to the character of the state, and that the "flood" needed to be stemmed. Netanyahu said he was told by the IDF that the measures they are currently taking will cut the number in half in 2011 and perhaps even further in 2012.
