Former prime minister Ehud Olmert called on State Attorney Moshe Lador to publicly apologize following an interview to Haaretz newspaper in which Lador described a $75,000 loan Olmert had received 17 years ago as "an extraordinarily scandalous story."

In addition, Olmert's attorneys are demanding that Haaretz and Lador contribute NIS 50,000 for a public purpose which "will be decided on in coordination with Olmert."

If the demands are not met, Olmert has threatened a libel suit.

The prosecutors said in response that it remains unknown whether Olmert had paid back the loan.
