President Shimon Peres asked participants of a technological college of the Israel Air Force in Carmiel to stand for a moment of silence in memory of the prime minister's father, Benzion Netanyahu, who passed away earlier in the day.

At the college, Peres called Benzion "a great historian and a great Jew."
