A police officer was struck by a car and lightly injured in Ashdod on Saturday.

A number of suspects involved in a fight at an Ashkelon beach were in the car that struck the officer while fleeing the scene.

Police arrested a number of suspects who were involved in the fight and took off in pursuit of the vehicle which struck the officer.

The injured officer was evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.
