Fourteen Palestinian prisoners in Egypt were set to be released on Sunday, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.

Of the detainees, arrested by the regime of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, 20 have already been released and returned to the Gaza Strip, according to the report. Others managed to escape during the unrest during the revolution that led to Mubarak's ouster.

The prisoner releases come after appeals were made to the ruling Egyptian military council running the country.
