Newly-appointed Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman told US officials that the Muslim Brotherhood was "the bogeyman" and called Iranians "devils," according to a Reuters examination of a new WikiLeaks release on Sunday.

The leaked US State Department cable reportedly showed a long-term and sustained effort by Egypt's long-time intelligence chief to demonize the Islamic political party.

Regarding Egyptian attitudes towards Iran, the cables reveal a particular distaste from Suleiman. One cable says that Suleiman "takes an especially hard line on Teheran" and refers to Iranians as "devils." He apparently also told US officials that "If [Iran] were to support the Muslim Brotherhood, this would make them 'our enemy.'"
