Wildfire burns 35 houses in Western Australia

PERTH, Australia — Authorities on Sunday said a wildfire on the edge of a major Australian city has burned 35 homes.
There were no reports of injuries.
The Western Australian Fire and Emergency Services Authority said the fire raging on the eastern outskirts of the state capital Perth has destroyed 35 houses and other homes are under threat.
The authority said residents of several communities should evacuate as firefighters battle the blaze.
The fire broke out in forested land and is being fanned by hot gusting winds.
Another major fire is burning to the north in the Swan Valley district, where firefighters are waterbombing the blaze from helicopters.
