Yesha settlement council head Dani Dayan praised a decision to recognize Ariel University Center college as a university on Tuesday.

The decision, he said, is "a celebratory day for the State of Israel, for Israeli academia and for the residents of Judea and Samaria (the West Bank)."

The "historical decision" was made despite the council and ministers being faced with "unreasonable political pressure that only grew in recent days," Dayan added.
