Police recommend indictment charges against Harpaz

Lt.-Col. (res.) Boaz Harpaz released to 10 days house arrest; police say there is substantial foundation of evidence for indictment.

Police on Wednesday recommended prosecutors indict IDF Lt.-Col. (res.) Boaz Harpaz, the central suspect in the "Galant document" case, for forging the controversial document.
Harpaz was released Wednesday morning to 10 days of conditional house arrest following a decision by the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court. The decision was made following an agreement reached by Harpaz's lawyers and the Unit of International Crime Investigations.

The restrictions prohibit Harpaz from providing his version of the "Galant document" forgery case to the media or contacting others involved in the case. Harpaz was also required to deposit his passport and was banned from leaving Israel for a period of 90 days. He was also required to lodge a financial guarantee of NIS 50,000.
Police said that there is a substantial foundation of evidence for an indictment against Harpaz.
The case will be transferred to the State Attorney's Office.
Police have encountered difficulty while trying to extract an admission from Harpaz, who has provided several versions of the incident.
