Chair dedicated to Palestinian UN bid set for world tour
Ma'an: Palestinian artists have constructed cloth chair, able to fit in suitcase, to travel Middle East, to Europe, to the US.

Thirty-five Palestinian artists from the West Bank have created a chair in support of the Palestinian state recognition bid at the UN this September, and are preparing to send it different countries around the world in support of the move, Palestinian news channel Ma'an reported.The chair is made from blue cloth and has the word Palestine embroidered on its backrest. RELATED:Mofaz accuses coalition of 'silencing' report on UN bidPA set on UN bid unless Israel meets their termsThe original designer, engineer Sufian Al-Qaqasmi, said that the chair, which was made from cloth manufactured in Nablus and then weaved in Hebron, can fit into a suitcase.
The chair was also made in 48 hours, to represent the "Nakba" or catastrophe of 1948 when thousands of Palestinian were forced or left their homes in what is now Israel, Ma'an said.It is destined to travel to Qatar and Lebanon, the soon-to-be presidents of the General Assembly and Security Council, respectively.Following that trip, the chair will make it's way to Russia, France, and the United Kingdom, all permamnent members of the Secuirty Council.After a stin in Spain and Brazi, the olive-wood chair will end its journey at the United Nations in New York.Click for full Jpost coverage
