Iranian intelligence and police forces thwarted an operation by the Jundullah militant group to assassinate Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2007, the Tehran Times reported Sunday.Iran classifies Jundullah as a terrorist entity.According to the report, while the Iranian president was visiting the city of Iranshahr in 2007, three suicide bombers affiliated with Jundullah attempted to assassinate Ahmadinejad.However, intelligence agents identified the groups operatives and foiled the plot.The group reportedly planned to carry out the operation during Ahmadinejad's public Iranshar speech. In the process of preventing Ahmadinejad's assassination, four policemen and one intelligence operative were killed.Four Jundullah operatives were killed in the fight. The report did not mention how many Jundullah operatives were wounded or captured.
