Hundreds of border police early Monday morning surrounded three Migron homes slated for demolition.Estimates are that busloads of border police are on the way.Only a few dozen activists were able to arrive at the outpost after receiving a late night warning that the demolitions might take place.Police are standing in a single file around the homes wearing helmets and holding plastic shields as residents yell out at them to go away.One commander reminded his men, "remember, keep a poker face. No one interacts with anyone."One Mirgon resident who wore a headscarf and a skirt yelled out at them, "Tell me are you Jewish.""Are we in Germany?" yelled out another resident.
Others were busy on their cell phones trying to awaken politicians in hopes they would intervene. They believed they had already secured pledges that the demolitions would be delayed.Earlier this summer the state had promised the High Court of Justice that it would take down the homes during September in response to a petition by the Yesh Din organization against the homes.The outpost itself which is located in the Binyamin is slated to be demolished in March by order of the High Court of Justice in response to petition by Peace Now.
