Ceasefire

Shortly after the strike began, rocket sirens sounded in Kibbutz Nahal Oz in the Gaza border community. The sirens were almost immediately deemed a false alarm.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that "there is no plan" by Iran to hang people. "Hanging is out of the question."

The interim governing body for Gaza will have 15 members, according to Witkoff, though their names have not been confirmed. It remains unclear how Hamas will be disarmed as required by the plan.

This comes despite the return of all the hostages held in Gaza being a key tenet of the first phase of the ceasefire. The remains of St.-Sgt.-Maj. Ran Gvili remain in captivity.

Israel’s Security Cabinet met to discuss Phase II of the Gaza peace plan amid ongoing Iranian protests. The progression hinges on Hamas disarming and returning the remains of the final hostage.

Despite talk of stabilization, Hamas remains entrenched and armed, raising urgent questions about what a “Phase Two” can realistically be achieved.

Mazloum Abdi, head of the SDF, said that the group had reached an understanding for a ceasefire, in order to allow for the evacuation of trapped civilians and fighters from Aleppo.

The IDF conducted the strike "in response to Hezbollah's continued violations of the ceasefire understandings."

The military slammed the terror organization for breaching the ceasefire, noting that loading the launcher is a violation of the US-brokered agreement.

Disarmament would "spare Lebanon an Israeli strike" that would "deepen the gap" between Hezbollah and the Lebanese people, an Asharq Al-Awsat report noted.

"This action will cost the lives of Palestinians," their letter stated. "Removing these humanitarian organizations now will deepen exposure, illness, and preventable deaths."
