A few days prior to meeting IDF Chief of Staff Eizenkot, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford met with Lebanese Armed Forces commander Lt. Gen. Joseph Aoun for similar talks.
Military commanders have to plan for the next war and be prepared to present their operational plans to the political leaders.
"Lebanon will not hesitate to avail itself of its inherent right to self-defence if an armed attack occurs against the economic activities carried out in its maritime areas."
Saudi Arabia has already cut $3 billion in military aid to Lebanon after the Lebanese government failed to condemn an attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran in January.
The resolution also stated that no armed forces other than the UN Interim Force in Lebanon and the Lebanese army would be posted south of the Litani River.
