The army announced that the IDF soldier who was killed in the terror attack in Tel Aviv on Monday afternoon was twenty-year-old Sergeant Almog Shiloni of Modi'in.
Shiloni was a soldier in the Air Force.
Shiloni succumbed to his wounds hours after being stabbed in Tel Aviv near Hahagana train station.
Paramedics transported him to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer where he ultimately passed away after efforts were made to save his life.
An initial investigation into the incident found that the soldier who was near the train station was attacked by a man armed with a knife who jumped on him and began to stab him in his upper body. The suspect appeared to be attempting to take the soldier's weapon.
Shiloni was posthumously promoted to Staff-Sergeant and his funeral is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jerusalem's Mount Herzl. The IDF conveyed his family's request for the media to abstain from coverage of the funeral.
His death marked the second terror death of the day. Later on Monday afternoon, a 25-year-old woman named Dalia Lamkus was killed, also in a stabbing attack, near Gush Etzion.
