The Dutch retail chain Spar is coming to Israel and next Tuesday will open the first branch in Kfar Saba.

About NIS 10 million was invested in the branch, which is about 2,500 square meters in size.

The chain intends to open a branch in Be'er Sheva by the end of the year and within 5 years - 35 branches. Israel is the 49th country where stores of the chain are opened.

Along with gimmicks such as a bowling alley with discounts for the next visit, a beer cave, a flower nursery and a chic cafe, the Spar network also tries to fight the cost of living with a shopping basket ranked by quality and price.

CEO Amit Zaev said today (Wednesday) at the launch of the branch: "After a year and a half of intensive work, we are proud and excited to inaugurate the first SPAR supermarket in Israel. We believe that supporting local agriculture is essential and advocate the inclusion of small and medium-sized producers on store shelves alongside products from the largest producers in the world."
