On the six-month anniversary of the outbreak of the "Swords of Iron" war and in the run-up to Passover, during which approximately 1.2 million passengers are expected to pass through, a unique mural exhibition, dedicated to the residents of the West Negev and the northern border, will be inaugurated on the avenue of departing passengers at Ben Gurion Airport.
The exhibition "Enveloped in Love", which includes about 35 impressive photographs in the Western Negev and the Galilee finger from the pre-war period, was taken by professional photographers and the Airport Authority intends to present it in the coming year.
The exhibition's inauguration ceremony was attended by heads of authorities from the Gaza Strip and the northern border and senior officials of the Airports Authority and the Israel Defense Forces, including Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi; acting head of the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council Yossi Keren; Mayor of Kiryat Shmona Avihai Stern; Head of the Mate Asher Regional Council Moshe Davidovitz, who also served as head of the Line of Conflict Forum; Director of the Airports Authority Amnon Cohen and Director of the Airport Authority Udi Bar Oz.
"From today, each of the tens of thousands of passengers who pass through Ben Gurion Airport every day, our almost exclusive exit and entry gate in Israel, will remember the settlements as they were before October 7 and pray to see them soon again bustling with people, community life and rich in culture, industry, agriculture, Tourism, nature and joy of life," noted Bar Oz.
Stern said at the ceremony: "We are strong and will be able to face any challenge until the threat hovering over the border is removed. Every year, at this time, the north is full of travelers and vacationers who have come to be impressed by the beauty of this region of land. But unfortunately, today this is not possible."
Davidovitz added: "The exhibition symbolizes the support for the first line of defense of the State of Israel. The residents of the conflict line who have been displaced from their homes for six months and the residents of the north who are in the reality of constant vigilance and uncertainty need every possible recognition in these difficult days."
Keren noted: "From that cursed day we cling to his words and try to recover. Every event is celebrated with joy and sadness, but we will be able to meet the task."
Davidi joined in and said: "We need security, that the kidnapped will return safely and quickly, that we will always defeat the bitter enemy and that we will change the equation."
