Aide: Iran reform leader to set up political front

Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi plans to create an umbrella group made up of reform-minded political parties to challenge hard-liners and push for greater democracy, a top aide said on Tuesday. The comments by Ali Reza Beheshti to The Associated Press on were the most concrete indication yet of how Mousavi plans to push ahead with his campaign against the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Beheshti said that Mousavi was still working out details with other pro-reform leaders and planned to announce the new "political front" soon. Mousavi, who claims to have won the June 12 election, has been struggling for a way to channel widespread discontent after a harsh crackdown shattered street protests over the disputed vote.
