Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz held a security consultation on Thursday morning, PM Lapid said in a statement.
The two discussed the security situation in the south, following tensions around the Gaza strip, and the steps required to strengthen security in the area.

It was also agreed that the two would hold another meeting later in the day.
