Central London evacuated as police find ‘suspicious package’ near pro-Palestinian protesters

London’s Metropolitan Police have evacuated areas in central London, where a number of pro-Palestinian protesters had been gathered, after a “suspicious package” had been found, according to multiple local media reports.

A Metropolitan police spokesperson told the Metro: ‘At 17:42hrs on Saturday, 18 November an officer on patrol in William IV Street, Westminster spotted an item that was deemed suspicious.

‘The area was cordoned off and specialist officers were deployed to carry out an examination.

‘While the item was not dangerous and posed no risk to the public, initial inquiries suggest it was left there intentionally to provoke concern.”
