Ashrawi calls on EU to hold Israel accountable for violence

PLO Executive Committee member Hanan Ashrawi says the European Union statement released on Monday fails to recognize the majority of suffering is felt by the Palestinians, and calls on the international community to "hold Israel accountable."

Ashrawi said in a statement “The European Union is right to call for an end to the unjustifiable suffering of innocent civilians, but it fails to note that the suffering is overwhelmingly Palestinian, or to notice the killing of an entire family in one attack last night."

Ashrawi added the Palestinians of Gaza require "international intervention to guarantee their protection and security."
